The average year round temperature is about 75 degrees with the averages between winter and summer varying by about 13 degrees. The climate of Duck Key is essentially sub-tropical marine since it is located 90 miles north from the Tropic of Cancer and influenced by the Caribbean and Florida Bay waters. Summers in the Keys are warm but less so than mainland Florida thanks to offshore seabreezes and trade winds. Winters mild and dry.
Duck Key gets about half as much rainfall as the 60 inch annual rainfall of Miami. Miami's rainfall is fed with moisture evaporating off the Everglades, but the Keys experiences mostly sunny days with about 2 inches of rain a month from October through April. During the summer months the Florida Keys gets between 4 and 5 inches of rain mostly in the form of brief showers and thunderstorms.
