Duck Key Property Owners' Welcome Back Party

Photos taken November, 2004 by Dick Adler

One hundred thirty plus island residents gathered together at Club Duck Key on Saurday night, November 20, 2004, to celebrate and welcome back the snowbirds with drinks, entertainment, dining and dancing. The social committee did a marvelous job with many couples staying well passed Duck Key midnight.

For entertainment the Duck Key Players of 2004 performed an old cruiseliner skit called "If I were not upon the Sea. "

Pictures and lyrics are provided below.

Welcome from Beverly Gottschalk, membership chair of Club Duck Key, and greetings to Duck Key Property Owners' Association members and island visitors to Club Duck Key.

Welcome from Roy Enquist, DKPOA President. Thank you to Marine Bank for providing funding.

Beginning of skit by the Duck Key Players of 2004

Ed Gottschalk

"If I were not upon the sea, a SWIMMER I would be.

Happy all day long and this would be my song

Breast stroke, Breast stroke,
25 miles to go
Breast stroke, Breast stroke,
25 miles to go

Joanne Orr

"If I were not upon the sea, a BLACKJACK DEALER I would be.

Happy all day long and this would be my song

Hit them once, hit them twice
21 or bust
Hit them once, hit them twice
21 or bust

Gerry Fortier

"If I were not upon the sea, a BADMITTON PLAYER I would be.

Happy all day long and this would be my song

Birds to you sir, birds to you sir
up and down the court
Birds to you sir, birds to you sir
up and down the court

"If I were not upon the sea, a NURSE I would be.

Happy all day long and this would be my song

Strip to the waist, take your pulse
show me where it hurts
Strip to the waist, take your pulse
show me where it hurts

Dave Willianson

"If I were not upon the sea, a FLAG I would be.

Happy all day long and this would be my song

Blow me east, blow me west,
I like lots of wind
Blow me east, blow me west,
I like lots of wind

Portion of line

In this picture Suwe Williamson is saying "Take their pulse", having just finished "strip to the waist" on Jerry Fortier.

Performers Joanne and Dave at either end of this image also doing their parts in unison.

Fran Copeland, lighthouse keeper above doing "quick flash here"

"If I were not upon the sea, a LIGHTHOUSE KEEPER I would be.

Happy all day long and this would be my song

With a quick flash here, and a quickflash there,
so no one runs aground
With a quick flash here, and a quick flash there,
so no one goes aground.

Steve Showerman

"If I were not upon the sea, an UNDERTAKER I would be.

Happy all day long and this would be my song

Close their eye, lay them out
and shove them in the box
Close their eye, lay them out
and shove them in the box

Joanne Enquist

"If I were not upon the sea, a SEAMSTRESS I would be.

Happy all day long and this would be my song

Half a yard
I take it by the inch
Half a yard
I take it by the inch

Tom Neville

"If I were not upon the sea, a Ballet dancer I would be.

Happy all day long and this would be my song
