Water Quality in
the Keys called the "worst' by health authority. Beach
testing funding will expand.
Bart Bibler, chief
of the Bureau of Water Programs for the state Health
Department, is quoted in the Keynoter in an article by
Scott Fusaro.
"The worst water in
the state is in Monroe [County],They have fairly
lousy wastewater treatment." says the health authority.
Scott Fusaro
writes, "In the Keys, 15 beaches are tested. Last week,
tests at John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park in Key
Largo and Higgs Beach in Key West revealed high
concentrations of enterococcus, resulting in the health
advisories being posted Monday."
