Hawk's Cay Resort in the Florida Keys was acquired in February 2007 by a venture group comprized of Northview Hotel Group, Behringer Harvard and Five Star Realty.

Northview Hotel Group's task is to manage the Hawk's Cay property on behalf of the venture group, to implement changes and to oversee the 30 million renovation of the resort.

The 177 room Indies Inn portion of the resort will suspend operations temporarily and undergo renovation from mid-August 2007 through late December 2007. Throughout the renovation the 297 Hawk's Cay villas, the marina facilities, the dolphin center, the Waters Edge Restaurant and several pools will remain in operation.

Stephen Bello, (see Hawk's Cay News) has taken over the helm at Hawk’s Cay and believes the renovated resort will " be able to compete with upscale properties like the Ritz-Carltons and the Four Seasons.”

Renovation will include significant enhancements to all public and common areas, and guestroom remodeling at the Indies Inn with expanded bathrooms featuring granite and fine tile work. Rooms will have 42-inch flat-screen televisions, tropical style furniture and Egyptian cotton linens.

Major upgrades are planned for the heating ventilation air-conditioning system, and all resort amenities, food and beverage outlets, and four restaurants. Landscape and hardscape areas will undergo significant changes.

The hotel lobby to the Indies Inn is being expanded so that quests upon entry will have direct ocean view. The resort's old rectangular pool will be demolished and replaced with larger updated pool more than double in size to 5,500 square feet.

A new restaurant called Fish Grill will be constructed in a circular shape and along side the pool. The existing lagoon will be reconfigured.

As of September 2007 negotiations were still underway with the private owners of more than 290 villas located adjacent to the resort property at Duck Key. Northview officials would like upgrades to the villas as part of the overall plan for the resort.

Northview Hotel Group is owned by partners Mark Mance and Simon Hallgarten. Other members of the management team are David Zeuske - Executive Vice President/Operations, and President & COO of NVHG Management, LLC, and Matt Trevenen - Vice President/Development.
