OF MEETING
DUCK KEY SECURITY DISTRICT ADVISORY BOARD
JUNE 11, 2002 County Government Annex
The
meeting was called to order at 9:05 on June 11, 2002.
Dennis Kulig, R. J. Helbling, Tom Neville, and Dick Adler
were in attendance. Also in attendance were Joe
Fernandez, Sergeant Heber and Captain Peryam. Notice of
the meeting's place and date was advertised in the
Keynoter according to County requirements.
SECRETARY'S
REPORT
Minutes
from the prior Security Board meeting were read. A motion
to approve the minutes as corrected (R.J. Helbling name
added to attendance for March 11 meeting) carried.
CHAIRMAN'S
REPORT
Chairman
Tom Neville gave a report. The Chair spoke of the
resignation of Ray Pryzbyl from the Advisory Board. Board
members spoke about the taxation on Duck Key, County
Sheriff coverage and deterrence, and possible video
surveillance. Sergeant Heber and Captain Peryam answered
a number of Board members questions and provided Board
members with phone numbers.
OLD
BUSINESS
The Board
directed the Secretary to write a follow-up letter to
County Administrator Roberts in an effort to get the
construction process going on the Duck Key Security
District Building.
An
earlier letter to Jim Roberts on 1-29-2002 informed
County that at its January meeting,
"The
Advisory Board . . . voted to request that the County
initiate steps which will lead to the construction of a
small building for use by Security District contract
personnel on land presently leased to the Security
District on Indies Island. The building to meet
requirements for possible use as a Monroe County
Sheriff's substation for personnel assigned to this
sector. "
NEW
BUSINESS.
The
Advisory Board on the Security District took action on
several matters.
The
Advisory Board passed a motion to investigate cost of
video surveillance for Truman Bridge area on Duck Key and
asked Dennis Kulig to research the system currently
installed on Key Haven.
Joe
Fernandez asked for some complaint forms to give to
residents and suggested a new identity sticker for
resident vehicles. Board members approve purchase of new
stickers at a cost of approximately $190.
Dick
Adler will look into the costs of obtaining commercial
secretarial services and provide a budget for
2002.
A motion
was approved to adjourn the meeting.
