Memoriam - Carol Parker
Carol Parker of
Duck Key, Florida died on December 17, 2002.
Ms. Parker Parker
retired in 1987 having work as a teacher in Long Island,
New York for twenty-seven years. Prior to retirement and
moving to Duck Key she served as President of the Half
Hollow Hills School District Teachers' Association from
1972 to 1987. She was an ED Director for New York State
United Teachers and the first woman to sit on the local
AFL-CIO Board of Directors.
Carol served on the
Duck Key Property Owners' Association and contributed to
the community in many ways. Her interest in community
affairs and children lead to her to service as a guardian
in the Guardian Ad Litem program in Monroe County. She
also served as President of the Gaurdian AD Litem Guild
for a time.
Ms. Parker was
active in the Business and Professional Women's
Organization and was legislative chairwoman for that
group from 1993 to 1996. She was also President of the
Marathon Domestic Abuse Shelter from 1996 to
1998.
Carol and her
husband were members of the Marathon Yacht Club and
sailed for relaxation and enjoyment in local waters. They
also enjoyed staying in the highlands of North Carolina
during the summer period.
She is survived by
her husband Colin; a sister, Lynn Krown Restler; brother,
Jordon Krown; and daughters Robin Kilheeny and Jamie
Mills.
A memorial service
is planned for January 5th, 2003 at 1 o'clock
PM.
